N. L. Okunev ist den Byzantinisten und Kunstwissenschaftlern als Autor und Herausgeber der «Monumenta Artis Serbicae» (1928-1932) bekannt. Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der Entstehungsgeschichte dieses Opus, Okunevs Anteil an der Erforschung der mittelälterlichen Denkmäler Serbiens sowie mit seiner Rolle bei der Entwicklung dieses Wissenschaftzweiges.

N. L. Okunev is well-known as the author of the publication Monumenta Artis Serbicae (1928-1932). The article concerns the origin of the study and Okunev’s participation in investigation of Serbian medieval artifacts and his remarkable role in the development of this branch of art history.
