The review describes the organisational structure and research actvities of the Institute in the years 1999-2000. Management and research divisions are mentioned very briefly and in more detail are described three major research directions together with one-page annotations of selected results. The review also includes the list of selected publications. In a form of supplements are included: list of projects supported from external sources, conference travelling, international and educational activities.
