The effect of the acetabular labrum seal, intact articularsuperficial zone and synovial fluid thixotropy on squeeze-filmlubrication of the human hip joint in standing is analysed.If the labrum is intact and seals the gap, a squeezed synovialfilm betweeen the articular surfaces maintains for minutes.
