Polyols as precursors for crosslinked polyurethanes are prepared from vegetable oils (triglycerides of unsaturated fatty acids) by epoxidation and by ring opening of the oxirane. Modelling of network formation from such precursors and a diisocyanate using the statistical theory of branching processes and experimental results are discussed.
