In this review, mechanism, contributions and relative impor-tance of heterogeneous catalyzed and non-catalyzed reactionsof gases and radicals in devolatilization, volatile and charcombustion are analyzed. Further, influence of fuels, com-bustion conditions and technology on measured burning(reaction) rates, temperature of burning particles and emis-sions has been assessed, based on experimental measurements.
