Společenstva drobných zemních savců imisních holin byla srovnávána se starými zachovalými porosty pralesního charakteru. Podle předpokladů bylo zjištěno, že v důsledku úbytku a změn ekologických nik na imisních holinách dochází ke snížení diverzity společenstev a výrazným kvantitativním změnám v jejich struktuře. Jejich nejvýznamnějším praktickým důsledkem je výrazný nárůst abundance populací hraboše mokřadního (Microtus agrestis), který může vést ke škodám na lesnické výsadbě.

In two localities of the peak parts of Beskydy Mts., differing in the degree of deforestation (that is size of clearings), species richness and abundance of individual species of the small mammal communities were studied. The results were compared with each other and simultaneously with the old mountain forest stands. The communities in the mountain forest had the highest species diversity while on the extensive clearings (10th of ha) the lowest. Clearings smaller in size are inhabited by communities of high diversity compared to the extensives. If the area of clearing was smaller (about 1 ha), the structure and diversity of small mammal community do not significantly differ from those of original old stands.
