The combined detailed magnetostratiraphic and micropaleontological investigations of the Jurassic/Cretaceous boundary strata at three localities (Brodno, W Slovakia; Bosso Valley, Umbria, central Italy; and Puerto Escano, S. Spain) yielded results as follows: Two reverse subzones were precisely localized in all the three sections in magnetozones M20n and M19n, respectively. The magnetozones and subzones are well correlable with the M-sequence of marine magnetic anomalies. At the locality of Brodno, the duration of transition from N (R) to R (N) polarity of the Earth's magnetic field was estimated to take about 5 ka. Stratigraphically significant calpionellid events occupy an identical position with respect to magnetozones and subzones in all the three sections.
