Eutrophication of lakes and surface water generally is a world wide problem UNEP organised edition of a book which explains principles of eutrophication and which shows how water quality deteriorated by high amount of nutrients can be improved. The reasons of eutrophication are similar everywhere: high input of nutrients both from point sources nad diffuse sources. Examples of projects aimed at restoration of lakes/ponds from our country are given and important role of public awarnes is stressed. Holistic approach is applied in solving of eutrophy problems - whole catchment should be considered - which is complicated task in reality, as many stake and land owners should be addressed.
