Studie reaguje na přehled polského archeologického bádaní o Těšínsku od paleolitu až po vrcholný středověk. Upřesňuje a v některých případech koriguje dosavadní pohledy (zejména pokud jde o vývoj v české části regionu) a nastinuje směry dalšího výzkumu.

The study responds to the overview of the Polish archaeological research of the Těšín region from the Stone Age to the peak of the Middle Ages. It makes more accurate and in some cases corrects hitherto accepted views (especially those concerning the development in the Czech part of the region) and outlines the directions of further research.
