V článku je popsán problém reprezentace reálných čísel v počítačích, provádění aritmetických operací s nimi a z toho plynoucí důsledky ( zejména zaokrouhlovací chyby ). Jsou popsány hlavní rysy normy ANSI/IEEE. Je ukázána souvislost známých havárií se zanedbáním důležitých detailů počítačových operací.

The paper deals with the representation of real numbers in the computers, with computer arithmetic operations and corresponding consequences ( mainly round-off errors). Main principles of the ANSI/IEEE standard are described. It is shown that known disasters were caused through neglecting important details of computer arithmetics.
