The phase in clock gene expression of the newly developing rhythms in clock gene expression of the pups is in phase with the rhythm in their mothers. The phase of pups born to the phase-shifted mothers were phase delayed to those born to controls.It suggest that during early postnatal development, maternal entrainment is able to set the phase of the developing rhythmicity.

Fáze rytmů v expresi hodinových genů v suprachiasmatickém jádře novorozených potkanů je ve fázi s rytmy jejich matek. Fáze rytmů mláďat narozených fázově posunutým matkách je zpožděna oproti kontrolám. Výsledky ukazují, že matky synchronizují fázi cirkadiánního systému mláďat již v jejich časném vývoji
