The aim of this work was to test whether mechanical and physical properties of ancient wood can be predicted by means of a compression test of radial cores. Tests were carried out on samples obtained from elements of historical buildings. Thus, the samples correspond to real conditions, where there are natural defects, e.g., knots and ruptures, and biotic deterioration is caused by wood insects and fungi.

Cílem práce bylo experimentálně zjistit, jestli je možné odhadnout mechanické a fyzikální vlastnosti historického dřeva pomocí tlakových zkoušek z radiálních vývrtů. Zkoušky byly realizovány na vzorkách získaných z konstrukčních prvků historických budov a odpovídají reálným podmínkám obvyklého poškození přirozenými vadami dřeva např. suky a trhliny a napadením dřevokaznými houbami a hmyzem.
