In this study we describe the external and internal structure of the femoral organ. The organ is situated in the distal tip of all femora of legs of all developmental stages and in both sexes of 47 Zodarion species examined. Comparative anatomical study was performed in juveniles and adults of both sexes of Zodarion rubidum, and females of both Z. cyrenaicum and Z. jozefienae. Femoral organ represents exocrine gland composed of a group of secretory cells located below the epidermis. Each gland cell is connected with the leg surface by a single duct. The structure of the secretory cells, namely abundance of smooth endoplasmic reticulum, suggests that the gland produces a volatile compound.

V rámci této studie jsme porovnali vnější (u 47 druhů) a vnitřní (u 3 druhů) strukturu femorálního orgánu, který se nachází na distálním konci femurů všech nohou u všech vývojových stádií pavouků. Femorální orgán je exokrinní žlázou tvořenou skupinou sekrečních buněk. Každá z buněk je vybavena kanálkem, kterým je sekrece vylučována z těla. Jelikož hlavní sekreční organelou je hladké endoplasmatické retikulum předpokládáme, že tato žláza produkuje těkavé látky.
