Der Absatz fokussiert auf die Art und Weise, wie orientalische Alterität im Text und Holzschnitten des bekannten Reiseberichts „Cesta z království českého“ konstruiert wurde. Alterität wird als ein textueller Effekt verstanden, der in diesem Fall auf mehrere die ältere „biblische Topografie“ Ägyptens übergerifende Intertexte sowie auf eine spezifische Form vom frühneuzeitlichen Orientalismus rekurriert. Im zweiten Teil des Beitrages wird die Performativität des orientalischen Körpers thematisiert. Im Reisebericht wir der orientalische Körper eintweder in einer weichmütigen perversen „städtischen“ Form oder wie ein pathologischer an der Grenze von Bestialität und Intelligibilität stehender Körper performiert.

The paper concentrates on the strategies of oriental othering in the known early modern travel book „Cesta z království českého“ (in the texts as well as in the wood cuts). The othering is thematised as a textual effect, that bases in the comparison to the older „Biblical topography“ of Egypt on more intertexts and on a particulare form of an early modern Orientalism. The second patr of the paper focuses on the performances of the oriental body.In the travel book of interest it was performed as a spoiled and perverse „citizen“ form or as a pathological body of nomadic Arabians, defined by bestiality and lack of intelligibility.

Článek se zabývá konstrukcí orientální alterity v textu i dřevořezech renesančního cestopisu „Cesta z království českého“. Alterita je chápána jako textový efekt, založený v tomto případě na řadě intertextů přesahujících starší „biblickou topografii“ Egypta a na specifické formě raněnovověkého orientalismu. Druhá část příspěvku se soustřeďuje na performativitu orientálního těla. To je v cestopisu performováno buď ve změkčilé perverzní „městské“ podobě, nebo jako patologické, bestiální a takřka neinteligibilní tělo arabských nomádů.
