V letech 2004 a 2005 byly provedeny experimenty ke stanovení ztrát na produkci a kvalitě ječmene jarního v závislosti na redukci listové plochy. Poškození listů se na výnosu zrna v roce 2004 neprojevilo a v roce 2005 bylo zjištěno pouze snížení obsahu dusíkatých látek v závislosti na intenzitě poškození. Z výsledků vyplývá, že redukce listové plochy na rozhraní vegetativní a generativní fáze nepůsobí hynutí rostlin a ani nemá významný vliv na výnos a kvalitu zrna.

In the years 2004 and 2005, small-plot trials were established to determine the losses in production and quality of spring barley grains after simulating reduction in the foliage. The reduction in the leave area of spring barley at the end of the set-off phase was not the reason for decisive differences in the economic yield of grain in 2004 and in the basic quality parameters of grain. The results of the analysis of grain harvested in 2005 indicated only a decisive trend of decreasing nitrogen compounds in grain with increasing the intensity of the foliage damage (by 0.43% respectively 0.65% when compared to the control sample reduced by 25% respectively 50%). It was found out that reducing the foliage of spring barley when moving from vegetative to the generative phase in the studied extent is not fatal for the plants and concerning the economic yield is not even a quality reduction factor.
