Studie se týká původní ikonografie výjevu, který spojuje cykly ze života sv. Václava a sv. Ludmily na schodišti Velké věže hradu Karlštejna. Výjev, dnes nově namalován podle pauz původních maleb z doby během restaurování schodiště na přelomu 19. a 20. stol., byl restaurátory považován za výjev Kněz Kaich vyučuje sv.Václava a podle toho byla doplněna postava vyučující osoby. Z typologie výjevu je však zcela zřejmé, že jde o "ženský" typ vyučování, kdy žena drží dítě kolem ramen, popř. jí sedí přímo na klíně, kdežto při "mužském" vyučování sedí žák vždy odděleně naproti vyučujícímu (např. Šalamoun v biblických iluminacích). Sv. Václava zde tedy učí sv. Ludmila, čemuž ostatně odpovídá umístění výjevu.

The study focuses on the original iconography of a scene connecting cycles from the lives of St Wenceslas and St Ludmila on the staircase of the Great Tower of the Karlštejn castle. Restorers maintained the scene, newly painted according to pauses on the original paintings from the period before the staircase was rebuilt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, was the scene of Priest Kaich teaching St Wenceslas, and they added the figure of the teacher in line with this idea. However, the typology of the scene makes it absolutely obvious that this is a "female" style of teaching, with the teacher extending an arm around the child's shoulders or holding the child on her lap. With "male" teachers, the pupil always sits opposite the teacher (e.g., Solomon in Biblical illuminations). Hence, St Ludmila is teaching St Wenceslas in this picture, which is also suggested by the placement of the scene.
