Publikace připomíná založení Ústavu jaderné fyziky v r. 1955, který byl mateřským pracovištěm jak současného Ústavu jaderné fyziky AV ČR, tak Ústavu jaderného výzkumu. Publikace zahrnuje úvodní historickou stať, přehled hlavních vědeckých výsledků v oblasti jaderné fyziky, popis hlavních experimentálních zařízení ústavu a výběr ze vzpomínek pamětníků.

Publication commemorate the foundation of the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Czechoslovakia in 1955 which was the parent institute of the present Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences, CR, and the Institute of Nuclear Research. Publication comprises an introductory article on the Institute foundation, its predecessors and its further development, an overview of the scientific achievements of the Institute in nuclear physics, a description of the main experimental devices of the Institute and extracts of memoirs of some of the ancient collaborators of the Institute.
