Three taxa of the subgenus Sibiricobombus live in the Near-East mountain steppes: Bombus niveatus, B. sulfureus and B. vorticosus. B. niveatus and B. vorticosus can only be distinguished based on color pattern. B. sulfureus differs also in genitalia. We identified 40 compounds in the secretions of the labial glands of these taxa. Whereas the secretions of B. sulfureus are very different from those of B. niveatus and B. vorticosus, we found no significant difference between the latter. We conclude that B. sulfureus is a valid species, whereas B. vorticosus is a mere subspecies of B. niveatus: Bombus niveatus ssp. vorticosus Gerstaecker nov. status.

V Blízkovýchodních horských stepích žijí 3 druhy podrodu Sibiricobombus: Bombus niveatus, B. sulfureus a B. vorticosus. Zatímco B. niveatus a B. vorticosus se liší pouze zbarvením těla, B. sulfureus se navíc odlišuje i tvarem genitálií. V sekretu labiální žlázy těchto 3 druhů jsme identifikovali 40 látek. Zatímco sekret druhu B. sulfureus se výrazně lišil od dvou ostatních, ve složení sekretů druhů B. niveatus a B. vorticosus nebyly významné rozdíly. Z toho vyplývá, že B. vorticosus lze považovat za poddruh B. niveatus: Bombus niveatus ssp. vorticosus Gerstaecker nov. status.
