In this study, we investigate the immobilization of bovine serum albumin (BSA) molecules on the surface of flat and nanoporous diamond films terminated by hydrogen, oxygen or amine-containing plasma polymer (thickness 7 nm). GAR-FTIR and XPS measurements confirmed that the concentration of amine-containing bonds after the BSA attachment depends on the NCD surface termination. We found that the amine-containing polymer provides a strong interlink between BSA protein and the NCD film while preserving its globular conformation and probably also its biochemical functionality.
