Právě naopak - často byla nejrůznějším způsobem předváděna či performována: polohlasnou či hlasitou četbou pro větší či menší okruh diváků a posluchačů, zpěvem, představeními více nebo méně divadelního charakteru, někdy dokonce “soukromou” performancí bez zjevného cílového publika. Nejrůznější způsoby “živé” prezentace středověké literatury jsou v knize přiblíženy na příkladu bohemikálních mariánských planktů. Tento žánr popisuje Kristovu vykupitelskou smrt na kříži dojemným a zároveň provokativním způsobem: očima jeho vlastní matky, Panny Marie. Překlad anotace Marian planct represents a literary and performative genre which offered its clerical and lay audiences of the High and Late Middle Ages a deeply inspiring, yet at the same time ambiguous devotional experience. Through the representation of a biblical narrative, they were reminded of the redemptive power of Christ’s death on the Cross and the decisive role of his sacrifice in the history of salvation. In the process of imitatio Mariae, they were also invited to feel the unbearable sorrow of the mother’s mourning of her son through their own bodies, paralleling the experience of the Virgin Mary with their own experience of being a parent or a child. An example of the so-called affective devotion, Marian plancts render central Christian dogmas in a highly emotional way in the combination of letter, voice, music and gesture. The genre is presented through the examples taken from the corpus of Latin, Czech and German plancts from High Medieval Bohemia.
