Úvodní kapitoly se věnují jeho životu a dílu, a rovněž kontextu apologetické literatury 2. století, který je pro jeho dílo neodmyslitelný. Autorka se snaží zachytit Justinův význam v jeho době i jeho vliv na další křesťanské myslitele: autora evangelijní harmonie Tatiana, „hereziologa“ Eirénaia z Lyonu či apologetu a teologa Tertulliana. Jakožto svědek Bible kolem poloviny 2. století je Justin významnou postavou – zachovalo se od něj poměrně rozsáhlé dílo, které obsahuje více než 300 citací z hebrejské Bible ve znění Septuaginty. Kromě toho u něj pod názvem „vzpomínky apoštolů“ najdeme řadu odkazů na Ježíšovy výroky a narativní látky z evangelií. Jak vnímal Bibli tento vzdělaný muž, který si křesťanskou víru zvolil jako „pravou filosofii“? Nakolik významným impulsem pro formování kánonu byla polemika proti Markiónovi a gnostickým výkladům Písma? Závěrečná kapitola se věnuje prvnímu křesťanskému výkladu Žalmu 22 v jednom z Justinových nejznámějších děl, Dialogu se Židem Tryfónem. Komentovaný překlad tohoto textu nalezne čtenář v příloze. Překlad anotace The topic of the book is the reception of the Bible in the work of the outstanding Christian apologist of the 2nd century, Justin (Iustinus) called Philosoph or Martyr. R. Fialová tries to evaluate Justin’s importance in his time and his impact on other Christian thinkers: the author of the Gospel harmony Tatian, the “heresiologist” Irenaeus, or the apologist and outstanding theologian Tertullian. Justin is a prominent figure as a witness of the Bible in the middle of the 2nd century – his extensive body of works contains more than 300 quotes from the Hebrew Bible in the wording of the Septuagint. In addition, under the title of “the memories of the apostles” we can find references to Jesus’ logia and narratives from the Gospels. How was the Bible perceived by this educated man who chose the Christian faith as “true philosophy”? How powerful impulse to the formation of the biblical canon was his polemic against Marcion and the Gnostic interpretations of the Scripture? The final chapter deals with the first Christian exposition on Psalm 22 in Justin’s Dialogue with Trypho the Jew. In the addendum a commented translation of this interesting text can be found.
