It aims to show the peculiarities of the available material on the case of the Book of Genesis as it is attested in the breviaries up to the fifteenth century. In particular, it gives examples of the passages in which the Old Testament (OT) text of the Pentateuch was not included in the Paroemiaria, which preserved the oldest OCS translation of the OT texts. These consist of (1) abridged OT genealogies which had to be shortened in the breviary, (2) abridged non-Paroemiarion passages which had to be included in the breviary in the shortened redaction, (3) non-abridged non-Paroemiarion passages, that is the passages which were translated into the breviary in a new, ad hoc translation. The paper offers several examples of the text of the breviary as it will appear in the forthcoming edition. It presents the edition of the text with the variant readings from all the available manuscripts.
