AnnotationThe aim of the work was to provide new data on the knowledge of mechanisms by which recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF), recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF), and recombinant mouse granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rmGM-CSF) enhance numbers of colonies growing from hematopoietic progenitor cells for granulocytes and macrophages (GM-CFC) in mouse bone marrow. It has been found that both rhG-CSF and rmGM-CSF stimulate proliferation of GM-CFC by a combination of direct effects (direct action on target cells) and indirect effects (action mediated by induction of other cytokines and growth factors in the organism) whereas in the case of rhGM-CSF only indirect effects have been observed.
