AnnotationA single-crystal silicon carbide (SiC) detector was tested as a detector of soft x rays, electrons, and ions emitted from a plasma generated with the use of the Prague Asterix Laser System (PALS) delivering intensities of 10^16 W/cm^2. The SiC detector exhibited no response to intense UV and soft x-rays. Its response to high energy ions was correlated to the signal of an ion collector.
