Napětí, které provázelo dva poslední květnové týdny r. 1967, bylo přirozeným vyústěním nástupnické krize v zemi z let 1960-65, během níž došlo k roztržce uvnitř vládnoucí garnitury dominantní strany Mapaj. Spory a vnitropolitická krize v zemi tak byly do značné míry jedním z faktorů, které determinovaly reakci izraelské strany v podobě preventivního útoku. Description in English The paper deals with the personal and ideological divergences in the dominant Mapai party and their impact upon the decision-making process leading towards Israel’s entrance into the war of June 1967. Focusing upon the period from the second stage of the Lavon Affair in 1960 till D. Ben-Gurion’s retreat from the party in 1965, the paper compiles many of the existing secondary sources in order to demonstrate the close relation between the response of the Israeli political echelon in late May 1967 and the political instability provoked by the crisis over Ben-Gurion’s replacement in the first half of the 1960s.
