Strain controlled cyclic straining with constant strain amplitude and a single strain rate has been applied to cylindrical specimens of 713LC and Rene 41 superalloys and hysteresis loops were digitally recorded. The shape of hysteresis loops was analyzed using the statistical theory of the hysteresis loop. First and second derivatives of half-loops were calculated. From these data effective elastic modulus, effective stress component and probability density distribution of internal critical stresses were evaluated. The stress-strain response and its evolution have been discussed in relation to the internal structure and its development during cyclic plastic straining.
