Soubor studií českého literárního a divadelního vědce, který navazuje na jeho soubor Černá kočka aneb Subjekt znalce v myšlení o literatuře. Téma je obdobné: směřování literárního procesu. Autor analyzuje konkrétní díla, zkoumá literární proces a jeho směřování obecně a jevy, které utváří podoby literárního života v rozmanitých časových rovinách. Úvahy o subjektech, které určují myšlení o literatuře, vychází z literárních dějin, z nichž se v procesu geneze formovala moderní literární věda.

A collection of studies by a Czech literary and theatrical scientist is a following-up to his ensemble Black Cat or The Subject of Expert in Thinking about Literature. Through partial analyses of specific themes, works, and processes, the author names the basic trends, methodologies, but also mythology, fashion and subjective motivations that shaped and be shaping the various forms of literary and literary life. The common denominator of the individual probes is the constant need to examine the obviousness changing ways of contemporary thinking. However, they are also brought closer by the skeptical reflection of the current direction of the research field to one-off concepts, which the author sees as an approach that reflects existing methodological plurality and postmodern value relativism, but often also opens space for empty gestures hiding behind the currently attractive design.
