Thorough optimization of volatile species generation conditions of four mercury compounds (Hg2+, MeHg+, EtHg+ and PhHg+) with AAS detection is presented. Their generation efficiencies were subsequently quantified by trapping in a gold-based amalgamator with subsequent detection by single purpose atomic absorption spectrometer AMA-254.
