Ultrashort echo-time imaging (UTE) provides direct access to tissue components (e.g., myelin) whose fast T(2) relaxation makes them invisible to standard imaging procedures. In UTE alone, these signals are masked by long-T(2) components, which have to be eliminated to unveil the short-T(2) species. This study aims to improve upon the suppression efficiency of the approaches already described [1 + references] by optimizing a true double inversion recovery (DIR) scheme for 3.0 T and 9.4 T.
