The paper explores the construction of work and care in various contexts of breadwinning in the Czech Republic. It looks into what importance mothers of small children attribute to work and care in various family arrangements from the perspective of breadwinning. The paper also asks what impact various family set-ups have on the possibility for women’s self-fulfilment and relatedly gender equality in the family and beyond.
