Studie se zabývá vzájemnými souvislostmi života i tvorby Jana Zábrany a Josefa Škvoreckého. Na základě poprvé publikovaných dopisů autor popisuje průběh jejich literární spolupráce, která byla ve své době přísně utajovaná. Zabývá se i nepřímým vlivem přátelství obou autorů na jejich literární tvorbu, a to jak z hlediska uměleckého, tak organizačního.

The study deals with the context of life and work of Jan Zábrana and Josef Škvorecký. Coming from the information contained in their letters, published for the first time, the study describes the rules of their literary cooperation, which was kept strictly secret at the time. The text is also concerned with the indirect influence of the mutual friendship of the two authors on their literary work, both from the artistic and pragmatic, organizational point of view.
