The paper addresses a logico-semantical problem that concern the interrelations between the prescriptive language and the descriptive language. It distinguishes different understandings of R.M. Hare's thesis that no descriptive conclusion can be validly drawn from a set of premises which cannot be validly drawn from the descriptive premises alone, and considers arguments that undermine the thesis.
