Analysis of the structures and nucleotide sequences of genes encoding light and heavy fibroins in two caddisfly species revealed similarities with homologous genes in Lepidoptera. Amino acid repeats in the heavy fibroin of caddisflies contain very few alanines but possess more charged residues and a motif containing tryptophane.
Je popsána stavba a sekvence genů pro lehký a těžký fibroin u dvou druhů chrostíků a stanovena míra podobností s homologickými geny motýlů. Nápadný je rozdíl v repeticích aminokyselin těžkého fibroinu, kde u chrostíků téměř zcela chybí alanin, zato je tam více nabitých aminokyselin a typický motif s tryptofanem.
