A large number of aromatic compounds and organic nitriles, the two groups of compounds covered in this review, are intermediates, products, by-products or waste products of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture and the processing of fossil fuels. The Rhodococcus strains that efficiently degrade these compounds, the respective genes and enzymes involved in their degradation and their regulation are described in the review

Mnoho aromatických látek a organických nitrilů, dvou skupin látek o nichž pojednává tento přehled, jsou intermediáty, produkty, vedlejší produkty a odpady chemického a farmaceutického průmyslu, zemědělství a spalování fosilních paliv. V tomto přehledu jsou popsány kmeny rhodokoků, které účinně odbourávají tyto látky, příslušné geny a enzymy účastnící se při jejich degradaci a jejich regulace
