    From the mathematical point of view electromagnetic stirring of molten metals generally represents a triply coupled electromagnetic-thermal-hydrodynamic nonlinear task that has not been completely solved so far. The fundamental problems appear particularly when modelling the free level of metal and distribution of velocities due to possible turbulence effects and creation of vortices of various magnitudes. The paper summarises the most important knowledge and results obtained in the area at both workshops.
