Former experimental observations of Fe-Cr-C/Fe-Cr-Ni-C weldments are compared with simulated results. The simulation method is based on the CALPHAD approach completed with theory of multi-component bulk diffusion, the local condition of phase equilibria, and assumption that diffusion is the process thal controls the rate of phase transformation. The occured overall carbon concentration peaks near the welded interface are explained by carbide reactions. Both phase and concentration simulated profiles correspond closely to the previous findings.
