To query significance of Cab domain for ferochelatase regulation Synechocystis strains with mutated putative chlorophyll ligands in the Cab domain were prepared. Whereas these mutations did not influence ferochalatase activity in wild type background, same mutations in mutants lacking photosystem I or II resulted in decrease of FeCH activity nearly to the wild type level
