Defensins share a common conserved motif of six cysteins constructing a homologous conformation by intramolecular disulfide bridges. The site of expression in midgut and salivary glands leads to hypothesis of their involvement in innate immunity of ticks.
Defensiny sdílejí společný motiv šesti cysteinových zbytků, které vstupují do intramolekulárních můstků. Místo jejich exprese v mesenteronu a slinných žlázách vedlo k hypotéze o zapojení do mechanismů přirozené imunity klíšťat.
