Kniha analyzuje čtyři hlavní dimenze postojů k politickému režimu a jeho institucím a popisuje proměny těchto postojů v české veřejnosti v období let 1996 až 2006. Těmito dimenzemi jsou legitimita režimu, institucionální odcizení, individuální odcizení a politická nespokojenost. Hlavní argument knihy spočívá v tvrzení, že události let 1997 a 1998 přispěly výrazným způsobem k nárůstu nespokojenosti veřejnosti s politikou a stranami, která přetrvává do současnosti.

The book analyses four main dimensions of attitudes towards political regime and its institutions and describes changes in the attitudes within the Czech society between 1996 and 2006. These attitudinal dimensions are regime legitimacy, institutional disaffection, individual disaffection and political dissatisfaction. The main argument of the book is that the political events between 1997 and 1998 caused incredible increase in the dissatisfaction with politics and political parties and it had never get back to the level of middle 1990’s.
