Článek na pozadí kontroverze mezi teorií axiálního paradigmatu (representovanou Eisenstadtem) a teorií autonomie (representovanou Castoriadisem) převrací běžný pohled na politické myšlení skrze prisma filosofie a naopak se snaží porozumět filosofii z perspektivy polis. Jen tak redefinovaný filosof by totiž mohl hrát tak fundamentální roli, jakou mu připisuje Castoriadis.

First, the author presents the background of his thesis, the controversy between the theory of axial paradigm (represented in Eisenstadt) and the theory of autonomy (represented in Castoriadis). Then he reverses the usual perspective on political thought through the prism of philosophy and seeks to understand the philosophy from the perspective of the polis. Just redefined philosopher, so the thesis, would be able to play a such fundamental role, as required by Castoriadis.
