Description in EnglishThe aim of this article is to look on the question of the Czech-Romanian lexical parallels from the point of view of the contact linguistics and etymology. During their evolution, the mentioned languages had the opportunity to get into contact with various cultural and neighbour languages, which, on a various level, influenced their lexicon. The main source of the lexical parallels is the common relationship to the Latin language and the Slavonic languages, even if this relationship has different background. In the article, this is illustrated by the evolution of the cognates proceeding from the Latin magister and the Slavonic stem *gospod-.
