První studie se zabývá Tertullianovým pojetím lidské duše jako těla (corpus) svého druhu, druhá zkoumá jeho představy o původu a předávání této tělesné duše, jež je v posledku “odnoží” (tradux) duše Adamovy, z rodičů na jejich potomky. Kniha je doplněna exkursem o traducianismu v rané církvi a českým překladem vybraných kapitol Tertullianova spisu De anima. Description in English This book deals with Tertullian of Carthage (3. century AD), one of the first early Christian authors to write in Latin, and with his opinions on human soul that were heavily influenced by Stoicism. The first study analyses Tertullian’s concept of the soul as corpus sui generis, the second study is dedicated to Tertullian’s opinions about origin and transmission of this corporeal soul, which is ultimately an offshoot (tradux) of the soul of Adam, from parents to their offspring. The book is completed with an excursus on traducianism in the Early Church and with Czech translation of relevant chapters of Tertullian’s De anima.
