Description in EnglishThe study deals with one of the conspicuous aspects of the 19th-century-biographical narrative, namely its noticeable link to the space. By an example of J. A. Comenius the study shows how this strongly spatial anchoring of the biography was projected into the regional memory and helped to establish several imaginary regions which were based exclusively on the connection with Comenius’ life and work. Therefore it is possible to perceive these “Comenius´” regions as a result of the processes of the cultural commemoration and of the way they were shaped during the 19th century.
