AnnotationThe conference was dedicated to the art, architecture and material culture for female monasteries patronized by the ruling dynasties in medieval Europe over the period between the 11th and the 14th centuries. The ambition of the meeting was to gather scholars interested in both testing and overgoing the historiographic borders, and in questioning the interpretative scheme of a feudal structure oriented top-down in favour of a network perspective. The final aim was to detect and discuss artistic, architectural and aesthetic discourses acting on a synchronic and diachronic scale across late medieval Europe.
