Při orientačním ověření zlatonosnosti bylo rýžováním ze 100 kg vzorku se zrnitostí pod 4 mm získáno 44 zlatinek o celkové hmotnosti 10 mg zlata. Chemismus zlata se shoduje s chemismem zlata z revíru Jílové u Prahy. Podle analýzy těžkých minerálů jsou terasové štěrky s obsahem zlata předčtvrtohorního stáří. Období těžby se orientačním archeologickým průzkumem nepodařilo přesně určit, nejpravděpodobnější je středověk. Description in English A historical mining area with numerous excavations lies in high Berounka River terrace sediments near the village of Srbsko in the Bohemian Karst, Czech Republic. The operation, most probably gold panning, covered an area of about 10 hectares. The morphology of the site does not correspond to only sand extraction. Gold content obtained from a 100 kg sample of a sediment fraction under 4 mm in size consisted of 44 small gold particles with an overall weight of 10 mg. The chemical composition of gold corresponds to that of Jílové Gold District (distance 23.5 km). A heavy mineral analysis indicated the absence of unstable minerals like amphiboles or pyroxenes, which are abundant in the Quaternary river sediments of the Berounka River. The gold-bearing river terrace is therefore considered to be pre-Quaternary in age. The only older archeological artefact found in the mining area is a fragment of a belt buckle probably of medieval age. The analysis of historical documents shows that the mining was probably older than the onset of a construction of the medieval Karlštejn Castle (1348), located 3 km away. A precise dating of the mining operation could not be obtained.
