AnnotationHere, we describe the development and optimization of photon-upconversion nanoparticles, which will be suitable for automated single-molecule immunoassays for single-cell experiments in droplet microfluidics. We present UCNPs with NaYF4
or NaGdF4 crystal matrices doped with lanthanide ions (Er3+, Eu3+, Tm3+). The composition and internal architecture of UCNPs are optimized to provide bright and colored emission.
