Byla odhalena podkresba velmi blízká té jeho. Byly rozlišeny celkem dva styly podkreseb, což prokazuje účast dvou mistrů na tvorbě díla. V malbě byly použity pigmenty ve stejném technologickém kánonu, jaký používal Hanse Hesse. Socha sv. Barbory byla k oltáři přidaná později. Description in English Materials research of the altar from the collections of the Chomutov Regional Museum proved the similarity of the painting of the altar wings and the predela with other works belonging to Hans Hesse and his workshop. An underdrawing very close to his was revealed. A total of two styles of underdrawing were distinguished, which proves the participation of two masters in the creation of the work. Pigments were used in the same technological canon as it was typical for Hans Hesse. Statue of St. Barbara was added to the altar later.
