AnnotationOccurrence of microplastics in the environment has become a serious problem with too many variables and unknowns regarding their relationship not only with human health but also with other parts of the environment. The toxic and ecotoxic properties are still a subject of interest and the scientific attitude to their threat is not unified. There are numerous review papers which report on microplastic particles occurrence in water, but similarly complex reviews on methods of their removal are not that frequent. This paper aims to provide a brief overview summarizing the most tested methods of microplastics removal and intends to critically evaluate them accordingly and advert to their discrepancies.
