Autorka chápe taiwanskú literatúru ako komplexnú štruktúru zasadenú do kontextu japonskej a čínskej kultúry, v ktorej vystupovali rôzni aktéri s rôznou motiváciou, pričom dôsledne aplikuje teóriu literárneho poľa francúzskeho sociológa Pierra Bourdieua. Rozdelenie analytickej časti do dvoch oddielov vychádza z dvoch komplemenntárnych prístupov štúdia literatúry odvodených z práce talianskeho literárneho vedca Franca Morettiho: Oddiel Čítanie z diaľky využíva kvantitatívne metódy k popisu štruktúry a zmien v rámci literárneho poľa, zatiaľ čo Čítanie z blízka odhaľuje poetiku literatúry rôznych skupín, ktoré na taiwanskom literárnom poli pôsobili Description in English More profound political, cultural, and social changes emerged by the end of World War II in Taiwanese society. Applying the theory of the literary field of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, the author understands Taiwanese literature as a complex structure set in the context of Japanese and Chinese culture with various actors with different motivations. The division of the analytical part into two sections is based on two complementary approaches to the study of literature derived from the work of the Italian literary scholar Franco Moretti. The part dedicated to the Distant Reading uses quantitative methods to describe the structure and changes within the literary field.
