Due to low harvesting densities of phototrophic microalgae (in case of Chlorella vulgaris they are usually in range 0.5-5 g/L) is harvesting one of the most expensive parts of the Chlorella biomass production. It was estimated that harvesting costs make up approximately 40 % of the biomass production costs. The aim of this study is to evaluate a new pre-harvesting method for reducing the cost of Chlorella harvesting in large scale.
